Art Bengaluru is South India' s leading contemporary Art Festival and 2016 marks its 7th year. Art Bengaluru, one of the most reputed Art Festivals in India, has been created to showcase a wide spectrum of art forms and provide a platform for artists (both Indian and International) to exhibit their works. The festival, at its core, comprises of four distinct verticals - Art, Performance Art, Workshops and Speaking Sessions. A fifth vertical has been added this year: Cinema. The theme for the 7th edition of Art Bengaluru has been derived out of current events and positive changes that have taken place in the country, thereby making India emerge as a major player on the Global stage in almost all fields. India is a country with a population of over 1 Billion people with a love for their culture. It is a country of immense diversification. It is a country that embraces newness. And currently, it is the youngest country. These four features encapsulate the 'Spirit of India' . Art Bengaluru 2016 invites you to " Celebrate the World with the Spirit of India ." The theme will be showcased at UB City from 19-28 August 2016 as a Global exchange of art and culture. Art Bengaluru 2016 will play host to over 30 artists from around the world: India, France, Spain, Italy, Peru and other countries, in association with the Alliance Francaise, Instituto Cervantes, Italian Institute of Culture and the British Council. The festival will feature performances of Karsh Kale Collective on its opening night (19 August) followed by two other performances of renowned musicians on 20th and 21st August. Workshops targeting all age groups and Speaking events by renowned artists will also be a part of the festival through the 10-days. For the first time ever, in association with the Karnataka Tourism Department, Vittal Mallya Road will be shut down on Sunday, 21 August for an Open Street showcasing and celebrating Karnataka' s art, artisans, handicrafts and performance art. 23-25 August 2016 will also showcase world cinema from Spain, Italy and the classic " Romeo and Juliet" celebrating the year of Shakespeare.
